I. Who We Are

The Liberian United Youth for Community & Sustainable Development (LUYCSD) is a community-based organization dedicated to empowering young people, strengthening local livelihoods, and promoting sustainable agriculture across Liberia. Since our establishment, LUYCSD has focused on practical, high-impact initiatives that lift communities out of poverty while building long-term resilience.

Our 2022–2024 audited financial reports confirm our commitment to transparent governance, responsible fund management, and efficient use of resources. These audits consistently show strong internal controls, clean use of donor funds, and a track record of delivering results.

II. Why This Project Matters

Liberia remains heavily dependent on imported rice and vegetables, leaving communities vulnerable to price increases, food shortages, and inflation. At the same time, thousands of hectares of fertile land remain unused, and young people in rural areas face limited job opportunities.

LUYCSD recognized the urgency of these challenges and began transforming available community land into productive farms that feed families, create jobs, and stimulate local economies.

III. What We Have Achieved So Far

With determination and limited resources, LUYCSD successfully cultivated 32 hectares of farmland dedicated to rice, vegetables, and cassava. This expansion demonstrates our commitment to taking action, even before receiving external funding.

Key achievements include:

  • Land preparation, clearing, and demarcation of all 32 hectares

  • Procurement of rice seed, vegetable seeds, and cassava planting materials

  • Hiring community youth for farm labor

  • Initial purchase of essential tools and basic farm inputs

  • Establishing early-stage crop management activities

This progress was made possible through a USD 5,000 investment from LUYCSD’s own internal fund—part of the USD 15,000 set aside for community development.

IV. Financial Transparency & Responsible Investment

Our 2022–2024 audited report confirms:

  • Funds were used strictly for documented project activities

  • No cases of fund misuse or misallocation

  • Clear accountability and transparent reporting

  • Efficient spending with maximum community benefit per dollar

  • Strong internal controls aligned with NGO good-practice standards

This foundation of trust gives donors full confidence that all contributions will be managed with integrity.

V. What We Want to Do Next

To complete full cultivation, sustain crop management, and ensure a successful harvest across the entire 32 hectares, LUYCSD requires USD 23,000.

This budget will support:

Phase 1 : Seeds & Inputs

Improved rice seeds, root crops, vegetable seeds, fertilizers, soil enhancers.

Phase 2 : Labor & Youth Employment

Planting, weeding, irrigation, harvesting, and field supervision.

Phase 3 : Tools & Machinery Access

Rental of small machinery, irrigation support, and maintenance equipment.

Phase 4 : Transportation & Post-Harvest Handling

Transport of goods, harvest materials, drying, storage, and market preparation.

Phase 5 : Monitoring & Reporting

Regular field supervision, progress reporting, and donor updates.

VI. Impact You Help Create

Your donation helps transform lives. With full funding, this project will deliver:

Increased Local Food Production

  • 45–60 tons of rice annually

  • Increased availability of vegetables and cassava in local markets

Job Creation for Youth & Women

  • 120–160 rural youth employed

  • 50+ women directly involved in planting & processing

Higher Community Income

  • Farmers’ household income expected to rise by 25–40%

  • Opportunities for micro-businesses (transport, processing, trading)

Sustainable Agricultural Model

A long-term system that strengthens food security, supports climate-smart agriculture, and reduces dependence on imported food.

VII. Risk Management

LUYCSD has identified key operational and environmental risks and built strong mitigation strategies:

  • Climate Variability: Use of improved and drought-tolerant seeds

  • Pests: Integrated and organic pest control

  • Market Fluctuations: Partnerships with local buyers to secure stable pricing

  • Operational Delays: Dedicated field supervisors ensuring timely activities

These measures increase confidence that donor contributions will achieve sustainable results.

VIII. Sustainability Plan

This project is not a temporary intervention. LUYCSD aims to:

  • Reinvest part of the harvest revenue into expanding farmland

  • Provide youth agricultural training across nearby communities

  • Strengthen supply chains from farm to market

  • Expand the cultivated area from 32 hectares to 50+ hectares over the next years

Your support contributes to a project that will continue generating impact long after the initial funding.

IX. Join Us and Become a Partner in Change

We invite individuals, development agencies, foundations, and corporate sponsors to support this life-changing agricultural program. LUYCSD provides full transparency, regular updates, audit access, field visit opportunities, and branding visibility for all partners.
